The Bodhi Tree Bookstore originated in 1970. We signed a lease in February and spent a few months remodeling, building bookshelves, and ordering books. An astrologer analyzed our situation and we choose a propitious opening date of July 10, 1970 at 2 pm.

The City of West Hollywood acknowledged our 35th Anniversary at the August 15, 2005 City Council meeting by presenting us with a commemorative city scroll and - surprise - a large birthday cake.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We invited everyone to send in their stories about how the Bodhi Tree had impacted their lives. Many people responded with poignant and wonderful stories and these are collected in the folder "Anniversary Stories". The good thoughts and feelings of our patrons flows into every nook of the bookstore and along with the many pictures of saints, gurus and teachers that grace our walls, help create our uplifting and energetically alive environment. Joining in to enhance our environment is the helpful, sincere Bodhi Tree staff who invest so much of their good will, energy and intelligence.
