The Bodhi Tree Cat
Through The Ages

No bookstore is complete without a cat. The Bodhi Tree Bookstore has had a reigning cat for several years. The first holder of the crown was Chubby, a large orange colored male cat. When he died of complications of old age, we conducted a burial ceremony under the Bodhi Tree’s tree, our sacred fig tree or ficus religiosa, growing behind the store. The second reigning cat was Little Girl. She retired from service a few years ago and is living in comfortable retirement with one of our staff people. The third holder of the crown and current reigning princess is Tara.
